2021 Open Nationals Wrap Up

19 April 2021

It was a big week of racing up on the Gold Coast at the 2021 Australian Swimming Championships with our F-Teamers taking on massive race schedules across the five days. After a tumultuous year, it was an excellent opportunity for the swimmers to see where they're sitting in the lead up to Trials that will take place in June in Adelaide.

Highlights from the event included long distance Olympian Jack McLoughlin's two medals in the 800m and 1500m Freestyle events, a Silver and Bronze respectively. NY Breaker Brendon Smith had a big race schedule and a cracking 400m IM swim beating out his Nunawading teammate Elliot Rogerson and young gun Thomas Hauck. On the third day of finals Brendon pipped fellow F-Teamer Jack McLouglin to win Bronze in the 400m Freestyle event. South Australian James McKechnie touched the wall in third to win bronze in the 50m Breaststroke event behind big names like Matthew Wilson and Jack Packard. Jamie Jack had a big 100m Freestyle swim winning Gold in his age group with a time of 50.46.

Congratulations to all of our Nationals medallists!
