MS 24 Hour Mega Swim
Have you entered the MS 24 Hour Mega Swim yet? It's not too late!

Have you heard about the MS 24 Hour Mega Swims? They are a fun team relay event where teams have a swimmer in the water for the entire 24 hours and compete for laps swum and money raised, in support for people living with multiple sclerosis. It is one of Australia's most popular and fastest-growing fundraising events, bringing communities together.

What is fantastic about this event is that people of all ages and abilities can take part in the MS 24 Hour Mega Swim. In each team you can create a roster to suit your swimmers. Some swim for 10 minutes, others for 4 hours! The MS 24 Hour Mega Swim is a competition with points awarded to each team; 1 point for every $10 raised (banked funds) and 1 point for every 500m swum.

Funds raised from 24 Hour Mega Swim contribute to MS Go for Gold Scholarships, Financial Assistance Programs and providing services to directly benefit those living with multiple sclerosis.

The MS 24 Hour Mega Swim is a fantastic way to support those living with multiple sclerosis.

Funky Trunks and Funkita have been proud sponsors of this event for over 3 years. This year we have contributed prizes and discounts for participants involved in this fantastic event to bring the funky vibe.

For a little bit of MS 24 Hour Mega Swim history look no further than their ambassador Carol Cooke. After competing in Hobart at the Masters Swimming Nationals in 1998, Carol awoke one morning with disturbing balance problems and double vision.

After an array of tests she was bluntly told, "you have MS - go home and get your affairs in order before you become incapacitated." She was understandably devastated and the rest of the day was a blur. Having only been married for three years and with no immediate family around, her thoughts revolved around how she was going to cope with this unpredictable disease.

Fortunately, Carol found the determination and spirit to defy what the doctor had told her. Although living with the never-ending symptoms of MS, Carol has the strength and courage to get up each day with a positive and motivated attitude. She has learnt to live for today and not worry about what may or may not happen in the future.

Where it all began! Swimmers taking part in the MS 24 Hour Mega Swim at Fitzroy Pool.

In 2001 at Fitzroy Pool in Victoria Carol Cooke had the vision of bringing people together to raise funds for those living with multiple sclerosis and so the MS 24 Hour Mega Swim was born!
