Age Nationals Champs

Max and Elliot
Funky Trunks athletes Max and Elliot showing off their bling from Aussie Age Champs

The Funky Trunks lads brought the heat at Aussie Age Champs last week, with all of them making finals and tallying 8 medals by the end of the week.

One of the Funky Trunks big guns from the event was the devil from Tassie, Max Giuliani. Max came away with Gold in 200 Free and Bronze in 100 Free as well as some more Tassie state records. If this continues Max will need a serious trophy room to keep up with his haul.

Not far behind with two bronze medals to their names were Tom Lightfoot and Elliot Weber. Our STEM-ly inclined F-Teamer Tom bested the breaststrokers in the 200 before racing in his Aussie Open Champs event, the 400 IM. Tom missed out on a World Junior qualifying time by just 0.2 seconds, which was way more than he ever expected. Elliot got his Freestyle on in the 200 as well as the 4 x 50 Free Relay as part of the team from Acacia Bayside.

In addition to these medal winners the boys from Vic, Adem Ibrahim and Ryan Bicknell managed to swim themselves into some finals. Ryan is in his last year of age group swimming so it was great to see the veteran get some solid times before facing the big boys next season.

The youngest in the Funky Trunks crew, Noah Kamprad, managed to hold his own against some tough competition. With his focus on the 400 and 800 Free Noah swam valiantly, but unfortunately succumbed to illness. With a bright future and a seriously hard work ethic we know we'll see big things from Noah at Nationals next year.

That's a wrap on Aussie Age Nationals, but not the year! Lots more racing to come, watch this space.
