Favourite training drill or set: Anything pull based

Best event: 100m Backstroke

Jonathan Rutter currently trains in the United States and has competed for NZ in many international competitions.

Jonathan Rutter
Club: Pinnacle Racing Virginia Tech.
Coach: Sergio Lopez Miro

Jonathan is a 24-year-old breaststroke, freestyle, and medley swimmer who is currently training in Virginia, United States. He has competed for New Zealand in several international competitions, including the 2019 World University Games, 2018 FINA World Cup Series, and 2018 Oceania Championships in which he won 6 gold medals and was named Best Male Swimmer. Jonathan studied ecology and environmental studies at Yale University, where he holds the school record in both the 200yd Breaststroke and 200yd Medley. Next year he will be attending the University of Oxford in the UK to pursue a master's degree in Not Swimming.

Favourite post-race meal: Sushi, if my family is paying for it!

Favourite pump-up song: Baba O'Reily by The Who is a classic

Favourite training drill or set: 50s Breaststroke stroke count golf (add strokes and time, go for as low as possible)

Best event: 200m Breaststroke

Lewis Clareburt competed in the International Swimming League last year for the New York Breakers

Lewis Clareburt
Club: Capital Swim Club.
Coach: Gary Hollywood

21-year-old Lewis Clareburt is looking forward to a big year ahead after his performance at the 2019 World Championships in Gwangju, South Korea where he finished 3rd in the men's 400m IM. In 2020 he competed for the ISL's New York Breakers in Budapest, Hungary.

Favourite post-race meal: Anything with pasta but to be honest I don't really have a favourite post-race meal because whenever I race, I'm usually not at home so it's whatever is available at the food hall or what is provided.

Favourite pump up song: Whatever my playlist throws at me. But usually changes for different competitions. For international competitions I like to listen to New Zealand music.

Favourite training drill/set: I love sprint sets - only because I never do sprint sets!

Best event: 400 IM

All the best and good luck to our 3 Funky Trunks F-Teamers racing this year!
