Records break at QLD State Champs

29 September 2020

QLD State Champs
Elliot Weber (left) and Isaac Cooper (right) dominated the weekend with 13 medals combined.

It's safe to say that our Funky Trunks F-Teamers carried the QLD State Champs on their shoulders, claiming a plethora of golds, Queensland records and podium positions across the three-day event.

Isaac Cooper finished his State Champs campaign strong with 3 Queensland records, seven medals and improved his ranking to fastest in Australia for the 16 year old 50 Backstroke. The swimmer from Toowoomba Grammar was unbeatable in the sprint events including the 100 IM, 50 Freestyle, 50 Butterfly, 100 Backstroke and 50 Backstroke, only receiving a second and third in the 200 Backstroke and 100 Freestyle. You can read more about his Australian Age Record written up on Swim Swam here.

Mitchell Tinsley, Jacob Hansford and Daniel Hunter represented our senior F-Teamers for the meet and went head to head together in the Men's 200 Freestyle. Swimmer Jamie Jack also saved his speed for the 50 Freestyle where he swam a personal best time for 7th place.

Elliot Weber of Rackley's Swimming Club had a busy weekend racing in 11 events, winning medals for six of these including the 100 IM (1st), 200 IM (2nd), 100 Butterfly and the 50, 100 and 200 Breaststroke (3rd).

Awesome racing by the Funky Trunkers getting set for a big return to the pool in 2021.

Well done!
