Party in the USA for World Junior Champs!

Jack McMillan dove straight into the competition!

It was a party in the USA for our F-Teamers who competed at the 6th FINA World Junior Championships from the 23rd - 28th August.

The Champs kick-started with Australian F-Teamer Zac Attard (@zac_attard) and his team mates becoming bronzed Aussies, not from the American sun, but from placing 3rd in the 4x100m men's freestyle relay. Swimming the second leg in a time of 49.47, Zac set the boys up for a podium finish. Zac also raced the 100m freestyle, placing 12th in the heats (1:49.87)

Team GB athletes Elliot Clogg (@elliotclogg) and Jacob Peters (@jacobpeters_) competed in 3 events each over the week long competition. Elliot swam incredibly and placed 7th for the 200m freestyle (1:49.02), though he narrowly missed out on qualifying for the finals of the 100m freestyle (50.02) by only 0.17 of a second. Elliot's final event, the 200m backstroke was no exception to his amazing efforts as he placed 8th in the final (2:00.41).

Jacob spread his wings across 3 butterfly events. After coming 15th (24.46) in the semi-finals for the 50m butterfly and coming 12th (2:00.41) in the semi-finals for the 100m butterfly, Jacob made his way to the finals and placed a valiant 7th (1:58.40) overall for the 200m butterfly.

Irish F-Teamers Robbie Powell (@robbiepowell) and Jack McMillan (@jackmcmillan4) went into the champs competing in several events each. Jack smashed his PB in the 400m freestyle (4:00.01) and was extremely close to reaching his PB again for both the 100m & 200m freestyle. Robbie and the Irish team came in 6th for the mixed medley relay, with Robbie as an anchor going 49.74! Robbie also finished 21st in the 50m freestyle with a time of 23.3 which got him the regional record back home.
